Virgin Australia and Link Airways announce partnership to broaden regional network

Virgin Australia and Link Airways have signed a new code-sharing partnership that will add 90 flights a week to Virgin Australia’s domestic network.

A total of 17 different regional code-share services have been added to Virgin Australia’s network, the airlines said on Thursday.

Ten of the flights are out of Brisbane, two each from Sydney and Canberra, and three are out of and into Melbourne.

The new flights include:

  • Brisbane to Coffs Harbour
  • Brisbane to Dubbo
  • Brisbane to Orange
  • Brisbane to Biloela
  • Sydney to Inverell
  • Melbourne to Wollongong
  • Melbourne to Dubbo
  • Canberra to Newcastle

“Today’s announcement in partnership with Link Airways underscores our commitment to delivering great value, flexibility and choice to Australians, and boosting connections for customers living in regional Australia,” Virgin Australia chief strategy and transformation officer Alistair Hartley said.

“Importantly, the partnership is also set to support regional trade and tourism in destinations such as Inverell, Wollongong and Biloela, which are not currently serviced by any other major airline.”

Flights under the code-sharing agreement can be booked via Virgin Australia’s travel agency partners effective on Thursday, and directly on the Virgin Australia website from March.
