The men then asked how much the dog would be to purchase, to which the victim replied his pet was not for sale.

However, the duo grabbed the dog’s leash and attempted to steal the animal before punching the owner in the face several times, police said.

As the dog owner left the area he dropped some cash which was picked up by the two men.

According to police, the victim was again confronted by the same men a short time later and chased across the Princess Hwy and M2.

One of the men, armed with a stick, then began to beat the dog owner, with nearby CCTV capturing the violent attack.

The 25-year-old can be seen falling to the ground, with the attacker hitting him several times before running off.

The Dandenong man suffered injuries to his head and upper body.
